MERCHANT GETTING STARTEDKnow the fees.
Before the first payment.
A practical guide to connecting Stripe and preparing online collection. General onboarding is not yet open; the current demo uses test payments.
01Connect your own Stripe account.
Complete Stripe-hosted Connect onboarding with your business, identity and payout information. Stripe must approve your account, and platform live payments must be activated. Funds go to your own Stripe account; 24 Helpful takes no payment commission.
02Review fees before switching on.
Online collection automatically adds the customer fees below. Review the shared contract and card-fee setting, permitted card types, your actual costs, required notices and state restrictions with Stripe or a lawyer. Account approval alone does not approve your surcharge policy.
03Check the client’s full journey.
Once activated and compliant, enable online collection for the quote. Preview the agreement, deposit and balance, fee disclosure, total and receipt before accepting a live payment. ACH is available only when enabled and supported by your Stripe account; initiation is not settlement.
AUTOMATIC CUSTOMER FEESThree payment methods.
Three fee treatments.
When online collection is enabled, the workbench automatically adds a customer processing fee to each deposit or balance payment: card payments use the percentage stated in the service agreement; online ACH adds 0.8%, capped at $5 per payment. The workbench adds no fee for offline bank transfers (a bank may charge its own fees). These customer fees are not a 24 Helpful platform commission.
Online card
The percentage in the service agreement, added to the amount due. Only eligible credit cards may be surcharged; debit and prepaid cards must be excluded.
Online ACH
0.8% of the amount due, capped at $5 for each payment. For example: a $500 deposit adds $4; a $1,000 balance adds $5.
Offline bank transfer
No processing fee added by the workbench. Any charges from the customer’s or merchant’s bank are separate.
Review the current 3.5% card setting.
The merchant chooses the card rate in Settings → Quote defaults → Card processing fee % (设置 → 报价默认值 → 银行卡手续费 %). The contract and checkout use the same rate. Bubble Cloud’s current setting is 3.5%; this is an existing configuration, not a recommended or compliant rate. It exceeds Visa’s 3% maximum and must be reviewed and adjusted before surcharging Visa credit cards. Changing the default affects new quotes; a previously sent agreement retains its recorded rate.
Before you surcharge a card.
- For US Visa credit cards, a surcharge must not exceed the lower of 3% or the merchant’s actual cost of card acceptance. Stripe’s standard US domestic online card price is approximately 2.9% + $0.30 per successful transaction; actual pricing varies, and that example is not permission to charge a particular rate.
- Debit and prepaid cards must not be surcharged, even when processed as credit.
- Before starting, complete required card-network and acquirer notifications; Visa requires at least 30 days’ advance notice to the acquirer. Some states prohibit or further restrict surcharges.
- Disclose any permitted fee and the total before payment and on the receipt.
- The merchant chooses the rate and is responsible for compliance; consult a lawyer or Stripe before enabling surcharges. Do not assume the workbench automatically checks card type, costs, notices or state-law eligibility. If you cannot ensure debit/prepaid exclusion and all applicable requirements, do not enable card surcharging.
Customer fees and Stripe’s actual processing charges are different amounts. A customer fee is not a guarantee that the merchant receives an exact net amount after Stripe’s fees.
